US PRE-EMPTIVE POLICY AND THE "NEOCONSERVATIVES"
Neo-conservative's Project for The New American Century on expansionist Rebuilding America's Defenses (1997)

"...the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing even – like a new Pearl Harbor." This became basis for the 2002 National Security  Strategy of the United States below.
Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm (1996) - manipulating the American government and people to protect Israel's expansionism. "Prime Minister Netanyahu can formulate the policies and stress themes he favors in language familiar to the Americans by tapping into themes of American administrations during the Cold War which apply well to Israel."
2002: The National Security Strategy of the United States
"We must be prepared to stop rogue states and their terrorist clients before they are able to threaten or use weapons of mass destruction against the United States and our allies and friends."

An End to Ambiguity: US Counter-Proliferation from Tel Aviv to Tehran
From the Iranian perspective, Israel has not only successfully developed its own arsenal of nuclear weapons under a policy of "strategic ambiguity," it has also shaped U.S. policy through American neoconservatives with ties to the Israeli Likud party.

Brooks: Israelization of America
The brutal tactics of the Israeli "Defense" Forces have been denounced for decades by human rights groups, the United Nations, and scores of foreign governments. Is this how we want our own troops to fight?

Bishara - The Israelization of American policy
For the past few months I have watched with bewilderment as America has adopted Israel's mistaken strategy in the Middle East. Will America take as long as Israel to realize that starting a war is nothing like finishing it, and that military occupation does not bring about peace or security?
Oct 2004: Sidelined Neocons Stoke Future Fires
Ehoing increasingly threatening noises from the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon about preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, neocons are calling for Washington to undertake covert action, at the very least, to oust what some of them call the "terror masters" in Tehran as part of a more general "World War IV" against alleged Arab and Islamic extremism
.
William Kristol, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowtiz, Elliot Abrams, Douglas Feith are some of leading self-identified neoconservatives in the administration and/or the public eye
Nov 2004: Neocon Agenda: Iran, China, Russia, Latin America
Influential neocon Frank Gaffney, the founder and president of the Center for Security Policy (CSP) has laid out  "a checklist of the work the world will demand of this president and his subordinates in a second term."  The list, which begins with the destruction of Fallujah in Iraq and ends with the development of "appropriate strategies" for dealing with threats posed by China, Russia and "the emergence of a number of aggressively anti-American regimes in Latin America," also calls for "regime change" in Iran and North Korea.

March 2005: Warmonger Bolton to UN: Neocons on the Rampage
He played a lead role in cajoling and threatening the U.N. to rescind the 'Zionism is Racism' resolution; for which he is owned.  He spearheaded the U.S. campaign to undermine the International Criminal Court.   He helped push Colin Powell to give the treacherously erroneous  testimony before the Security Council just before the U.S. invasion/occupation of Iraq...

Jan 2005: The Coming Wars by Seymour M. Hersh
George W. Bush’s reëlection was not his only victory last fall. The President and his national-security advisers have consolidated control over the military and intelligence communities’ strategic analyses and covert operations to a degree unmatched since the rise of the post-Second World War national-security state. Bush has an aggressive and ambitious agenda for using that control—against the mullahs in Iran and against targets in the ongoing war on terrorism—during his second term.

Feb 2005: Military rumblings on Iran (like those before Iraq War)
Hawkish rumblings eerily recall the months before the American invasion of Iraq when some of the same officials pressed hardest for military action, while the president remained publicly uncommitted. Given that experience, it would be foolhardy to dismiss the current rhetorical buildup.

Jan 2005: Rice Admits Iran War for Israel
It's really hard to find common ground with a government that thinks Israel should be extinguished. It's difficult to find common ground with a government that is supporting Hezbollah and terrorist organizations that are determined to undermine the Middle East peace that we seek.

Feb 2005: Bush Admits: 'America would back Israel attack on Iran'
"Clearly, if I was the leader of Israel and I'd listened to some of the statements by the Iranian ayatollahs that regarded the security of my country, I'd be concerned about Iran having a nuclear weapon as well. And in that Israel is our ally, and in that we've made a very strong commitment to support Israel, we will support Israel if her security is threatened."

Feb 2005: Neocons seeking NEW Pearl Harbor - Like Iranian Retaliation?

Feb 2005: Blindly Backing Israel Against Iran
Of course, no one except the Likudniks believe that there is a nuclear crisis in Iran. Certainly Mohamed ElBaradei – Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency – doesn't believe it.
Feb 2005: Israel pushes U.S. on Iran nuke solution
Israel has been privately pressing Washington to solve the Iran nuclear problem in a hint that Tel Aviv may be left with no choice but to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities, defense officials say.

March 2005: Provoking Iran to War
Now, if you go around threatening to invade a nation-especially a nation where you already have a record of having overthrown one government and of having sent in an airborne assault force and especially if you have just invaded a another country, one that is a neighbor of the nation you are now threatening-shouldn't you expect that that nation will be preparing for your attack?
March 2005: US rules out Iran security pledge
The US has dismissed a call by the head of the UN's nuclear agency to offer Iran security assurances as a boost to talks over its nuclear programme. Iran is said to be seeking assurances of US and Israeli non-aggression.

PREDICTIONS ATTACK ON IRAN IN MID-2005
Feb 2005: Bush Slips and Admits: 'America would back Israel attack on Iran'
"Clearly, if I was the leader of Israel and I'd listened to some of the statements by the Iranian ayatollahs that regarded the security of my country, I'd be concerned about Iran having a nuclear weapon as well. And in that Israel is our ally, and in that we've made a very strong commitment to support Israel, we will support Israel if her security is threatened." Feb 2005: Scott Ritter Says Iran Attack in June
[Former weapons inspector Scott] Ritter said plans for a June attack on Iran have been submitted to President George W. Bush, and that the president has approved them.
Mar 2005: Green Light for Iran Attack - with Bunker Busters
London’s “Sunday Times” has reported top secret Israeli plans to attack nuclear research sites in Iran... the security cabinet gathered last month for a secret meeting at Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s home at the Shikmim Ranch, near the southern town of Sderot, to discuss plans for a potential attack. At the meetings conclusion the cabinet gave initial authorization for the attack.

March 2005: Daniel Ellsberg on Israel Arresting Vanunu and Coming Iran War
For Israel to confirm openly Vanunu's revelations at this particular time - dramatically abandoning forty years of obfuscation - would attract unfavorable attention to the fact that such threats or attacks against Iran are aimed not at achieving a nuclear-weapons-free zone in the Middle East but at prolonging, indefinitely, Israel's monopoly of nuclear weapons in the region. That is an unstated aim for both the US and Israel, but a less than compelling justification for war.

March 2005: SCOTT RITTER: IRAN WAR COMING IN JUNE, continued
Late last year, in the aftermath of the 2004 Presidential election, I was contacted by someone close to the Bush administration about the situation in Iraq. The Bush administration was keen on achieving some semblance of stability in Iraq before June 2005, I was told... because that was when the Pentagon was told to be prepared to launch a massive aerial attack against Iran...To be clear, the source did not say that President Bush had approved plans to bomb Iran in June 2005, as has been widely reported.  The President had reviewed plans being prepared by the Pentagon to have the military capability in place by June 2005 for such an attack, if the President ordered.

April 2005: Rittter says Israel Dictates June US Attack on Iran - Oil/Euros also motivations
The date comes from Israel which has variety of intelligence estimates saying the Iranian uranium ENRICHMENT program (not weapons production) should be ready to go in June so that Iran will be self-sufficient for nuclear power. There is NO evidence Iran's nuke weapons program exists but Israelis afraid that once they can do enriched uranium can easily go to making nuclear bombs.

April 2005: Sharon Visit to Crawford:Tries to Manipulate Bush on Iran (5 articles)
Sharon’s senior military adviser Brig. Gen. Yoav Galant gave Bush Israeli intelligence documents on Iran’s nuclear reactor. Bush was also given satellite photos of the plant, an Israeli official at the meeting said on condition of anonymity, but declined to give exact details on the information.  The purported Iranian threat was the central focus of a meeting Tuesday  between Sharon and Cheney. “Iran is very close to the point of no return,” The Israeli Yediot Ahronot on Wednesday quoted Sharon as telling Cheney. “Threats of international sanctions must be issued.” ...The Israeli official made no mention of any Israeli plans to attack the
Iranian reactors if negotiations failed..
Apr 2005: Israel Guns for Iran - Jude Wanniski The plan of the neoconservatives in the Bush administration, who work closely with Sharon, instead, aim at changing the terms of the NPT when the countries that are party to the treaty will gather in New York City in May for the 1970 treaty's Seventh Review Conference...How? By removing from its provisions the "inalienable" right of signatory nations to enrich uranium to the 4% potency required for power plants, but not the 90% required for nuclear weapons....The great danger in this neocon game plan is that when the members refuse to alter the NPT at its meeting in New York in May – as they surely will – the argument will be made that the US can no longer support the NPT and will abandon it as a mechanism for preventing non-proliferation.

OIL IMPERIALISM
Apr 2004: Oil, Geopolitics, and the Coming War with Iran  by Michael Klare
When talking about oil's importance in American strategic thinking about Iran, it is important to go beyond the obvious question of Iran's potential role in satisfying our country's future energy requirements. Because Iran occupies a strategic location on the north side of the Persian Gulf, it is in a position to threaten oil fields in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates, which together possess more than half of the world's known oil reserves. Iran also sits athwart the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway through which, daily, 40% of the world's oil exports pass. In addition, Iran is becoming a major supplier of oil and natural gas to China, India, and Japan, thereby giving Tehran additional clout in world affairs. It is these geopolitical dimensions of energy, as much as Iran's potential to export significant quantities of oil to the United States, that undoubtedly govern the administration's strategic calculations.
Nov 2004: China Pipeline Deal Rocks Middle East Boat
With an economy expanding at an amazing 9% yearly, and in fact with considerable and growing leverage over the Americans economically and financially that is not usually discussed, China is positioning itself for the future.  And Iran, seriously now threatened by the U.S.-Israeli alliance,  is working with China, as well as with Europe, to outflank the Americans and in the short-term to buy itself more crucial time to strengthen and to have at least a credible deterrent.

Why Israel Really Fears Iranian Nukes Part One/Dec-04
Tehran might offer to get rid of its nukes if Israel gets rid of its 200-400 nuclear weapons.

Why Israel Really Fears Iranian Nukes, Part Two/Feb-05

TWO PARTIES AND MEDIA SUPPORT FOR WAR
Sept 2004:Fanning the Hysteria About Iran: NPR Leads the Charge to War
The (August 2004) commentary titled "US Presses UN Agency on Iran Nuclear Program" was a textbook example of propaganda dressed up to look like unbiased reporting. All three interviewees were charter members of America's "far right" establishment; haling from the American Enterprise Institute, the Nixon Center and the Project for the New American Century.

Sept 2004: Dem KeyNote Obama: Go Bomba Iran?
U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama suggested Friday that the United States one day might have to launch surgical missile strikes into Iran and Pakistan to keep extremists from getting control of nuclear bombs.
Oct 2004: Iran's nuclear ambitions absent from US presidential debate
Kerry appeared to have hardened his position on Iran since December when he proposed bilateral talks "to explore areas of mutual interest with Iran, just as I was prepared to normalize relations with Vietnam a decade ago."

Feb 2005: Democrats and Iran: Look Who Supports Bush's Next War
Even DNC chair hopeful Howard Dean, allegedly the liberal arm of the Democratic Party, concurs Bush has not been tough enough on Iran. The Forward quotes Dean as saying, "The United States has to ... take a much harder line on Iran and Saudi Arabia because they're funding terrorism."

Apr 2005: Pilger On Media Law of Silence Similarly, the Law of Silence applies to the likely American attack on Iran. Scott Ritter, the UN weapons inspector who in 1999 disclosed that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction and was thereafter virtually blackballed, has recently revealed that, according to a Pentagon official, Iran will be attacked in June. Again, he has been ignored by most of the media.

Nov 2004: Iran's New Alliance With China Could Cost U.S. Leverage
The relationship has grown out of China's soaring energy needs -- crude oil imports surged nearly 40 percent in the first eight months of this year, according to state media -- and Iran's growing appetite for consumer goods for a population that has doubled since the 1979 revolution, Iranian officials and analysts say.

Jan 2005: 'Vladimir Putin and the global realignment'
What bothers the [Bush] administration is Putin's determination to maintain control over Russia's vital resources, his growing resistance to US expansion in central Asia, and his development of high-tech nuclear weapons... We're entering a new period of global instability. The post-war system of alliances is crumbling and the centers of power are shifting like tectonic plates. America's "go-it-alone", preemptive strategy has put the dominoes in motion and everywhere nations are retrenching.
Feb 2005: Iran to aid Syria against threats
"We are ready to help Syria on all grounds to confront threats," Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref said after meeting Syrian PM Naji al-Otari.

Feb 2005: Iran and Russia sign nuclear deal
Iran and Russia on Sunday signed a landmark nuclear fuel accord that paves the way for the firing up of the country's first atomic power station, a project the United States alleges is part of a cover for weapons development. Under the deal, which would cap an $800 million contract to build and bring the Bushehr plant on line, Russia will fuel the reactor on condition Iran sends back spent fuel, which could potentially be upgraded to weapons use.

March 2005: Resurgent Russia challenges US
Similar to closer relations with Syria and Iran, the newfound friendship between Moscow and Beijing has fostered Russia's sale of sophisticated military equipment to China. Interestingly, relations between Beijing  and Tehran have also warmed recently. It appears clear that the Moscow-Beijing-Tehran axis is designed to counter US foreign policy in Eurasia, the Middle East and Asia.
